The incident began around noon on Wednesday, Jan. 6, when the Darien Police receive the notification of the man with what appeared to a rifle in the area of Woodland Park, said Sergeant James Palmieri.
When officers located the suspect and attempted to make contact with him, he began to flee on foot with what appeared to be a rifle in his possession, Palmieri said.
After a brief foot pursuit, the individual was located and it was determined that the rifle was a BB-gun, he added.
The man was taken into custody and there is no ongoing danger or threat to the public.
